Terms & Conditions

Please read the following terms and conditions (collectively:  “terms”) carefully. By submitting your entry, you agree to these terms for yourself and on behalf of your Institution/Company. “You” and “your” shall refer to you personally or your Institution/Company, as applicable.  “We”, “Us” or “Our” includes Advanced Cell Diagnostics (ACD) and Bio-Techne and/or its officers, employees, directors, agents, and affiliates.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not click the “SUBMIT” box above, and do not participate in this offer.

Contest terms:
1. Using the web entry form, submit your written response <200 words for each statement on (a) goal of your research, (b) what genomic, proteomic and transcriptomic analysis tools you currently use and (c) how you would use a RNAscope® Assay and or BaseScope Assay to discover, innovate, and accelerate your own research.

2. Method of communication is English. Entries not submitted in English will not be eligible.

3. One abstract entry only per individual. Once you have submitted your abstract, you may not amend it. Abstracts must be submitted by 11:59:50 pm PT on Oct. 10, 2017 to qualify.

4. Qualified abstracts will be judged by a team of ACD scientists for appropriateness and completeness in response.

5. Each abstract will be judged based on our view of how well the entry reflects scientific merit, innovation, and fit with the RNAscope® Assay and or BaseScope Assay.

6. No purchase is required to enter.

7. Eight Early Bird US $2,000 Grant Prizes will be awarded via quarterly random drawings:

• Early Bird US $2,000 Grant Prizes--1st and 2nd prizes:
Qualified entrants with submission by 11:59:59 pm PT on Jan. 10, 2017 will be entered into a random drawing. Drawing and winner announcement of prizes 1 and 2 will take place on Jan. 17, 2017 by 4:00 pm PT. No purchase is required to enter. All qualified entrants, including the two winners will be added into the 3 subsequent drawings.

• Early Bird US $2,000 Grant Prizes--3rd and 4th prizes:
Qualified entrants with submission by 11:59:59 pm PT on April 10, 2017 entered into a random drawing. Drawing and winner announcement of prizes 3 and 4 will take place on April 17, 2017 by 4:00 pm PT. No purchase is required to enter. All qualified entrants, including the two winners will be added into the 2 subsequent drawings.

• Early Bird $2,000 Grant Prizes--5th and 6th prizes:
Qualified entrants with submission by 11:59:59 pm PT on July 10, 2017 will be entered into a random drawing. Drawing and winner announcement of prizes 5 and 6 will take place on July 17, 2017 by 4:00 pm PT. No purchase is required to enter. All qualified entrants, including the two winners will be added into the subsequent drawing.

• Early Bird US $2,000 Grant Prizes--7th and 8th prizes: Qualified entrants with submission by 11:59:59 pm PT on Oct. 10, 2017 will be entered into a random drawing. Drawing of prizes 7 and 8 will take place on Oct. 17, 2017 and winner announcement will take place at an ACD event during the Neuroscience Annual meeting, in Washington DC, November 2017. No purchase is required to enter.

8. Grand Prize Selection:
The 9th prize is the grand prize and the winner will be determined by the ACD scientists and executives. The winner is determined by ACD in our sole and absolute discretion.
• Entries must be submitted between 12:00 am PT on Nov. 1, 2016 and 11:59:59 pm PT on Oct. 10, 2017.
• ACD Staff will contact the Grand Prize Winner by no later than October 31, 2017.

9. The Grand Prize Winner and the two quarterly random drawing winners for Oct. 17 drawing will be announced at a date, time and place of our choosing during the 2017 Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting to take place on Nov. 12-15 2017 in Washington DC.
Grand Prize Winner must be present at ACD’s event in Washington DC to be awarded the prize.
Grand Prize Winner has the option to decline the BMW 330e iPerformance hybrid car and choose the alternative US $40,000 Cash Grant prize Option. Selection must be made by Grand Prize winner within 5 working days from when he/she is contacted about the prize by ACD staff.

10. The Grand Prize Winner agrees to be available for reasonable promotional activities at ACD’s request for a period of 9 months following announcement of the prize award.  Promotional activities may include (but are not limited to):
• Case Studies
• Webinars
• Researcher in the Spotlight/Website/Newsletter story features
• In-person seminars
• Make RNAscope® or BaseScope datasets available 120 days after the grand prize announcement
• Video and photoshoots with prizes

11. If the Grand Prize Winner is unable to take delivery of the prizes within 90 days of the announcement of the award, ACD reserves the right to award the prize to another entrant who can take delivery of the 1st place prizes within 90 days of announcement.

12. The Grand Prize:
The exact model, colors, trim, and all other features (collectively:  “trim”) of the BMW 330e iPerformance will be selected by ACD in our absolute discretion.  ACD is under no obligation to change the trim of the BMW 330e iPerformance to be delivered.
• The date of when the BMW 330e iPerformance is delivered will depend on availability from the BMW dealership local to the winner.

Odds of winning: ACD expects 100 entries for the first grant drawing making odds of winning the first of US $2K research grants 1%. ACD expects 1000 total applicants for the total contest. Odds of winning successive $2K research grants is between 1% and 0.1%. Odds of winning the grand prize is expected to be about 0.1% since 1000 total applicants are expected. Odds may vary depending on actual applicants during any given period.

Additional terms and conditions:
13. ACD and Bio-Techne employees and contractors (and their immediate families) are not eligible to participate in this offer. Government institution employees and Healthcare Professionals are not eligible to participate in this offer. The term Healthcare Professionals includes individuals (clinical or nonclinical physicians, physician assistants, nurses, technicians, research coordinators, administrators and purchasing personnel) and entities (including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing facilities, home health agencies, clinics and group purchasing organizations, managed care organizations, physician group practices, medical directors for health insurance organizations) and their employees and representatives who are involved in the actual provision of health care services.

14. By submitting your entry, you agree to all of the terms and conditions listed both above and below in these terms and conditions.

15. Only one entry will be accepted per individual. 

16. All submissions must be made through ACD’s online registration form.

17. All submissions must be made between 12:00 am PT on Nov. 1, 2016 and 11:59:59 pm PT on Oct. 10, 2017, for the selection committee to consider your submission for award. Late submissions will not be considered.

18. Once submitted, your materials and information cannot be returned.

19. You agree to obtain all authorizations and permissions from your Institution/Company or others that are required to allow you to make this submission and have your name and the name of your institution name used for all purposes, including marketing, by ACD or its affiliates without any compensation and with or without attribution, regardless of whether your entry wins the contest. You also agree personally to all the authorizations and permissions required by these terms and conditions.

20. You agree that the use of your submission by ACD does not violate any rule, policy, copyright, trademark, patent, or procedures of your Institution/Company or that of any other person.   You agree that all parts of your submission, including any attachments, become the sole property of ACD.

21. You acknowledge and agree that any submission made hereunder is not being made in exchange for any promise of business to ACD.

22. You agree that ACD may contact you for purposes of marketing its products and services.

23. ACD will have full, sole and absolute discretion regarding which submissions are selected as the winners of this competition.  By submitting your entry, you agree to all of the terms and conditions listed both above and below in these terms and conditions.

24. This contest will end at 11:59:59 pm PACIFIC TIME on Oct. 10, 2017, and the winners will be announced at a date, time and place of our choosing during the Neuroscience Annual Meeting in Washington DC, November 2017. 

25. ACD reserves the right to discontinue or modify this program at any time for any reason. In such event, ACD will post a notice on our website and inform all already submitted entrants via e-mail. In the event of discontinuance, ACD will have no liability to you, your employees, and agents or team members for such cancellation or modification.

26. ACD may refuse to consider a submission if ACD determines in its sole discretion that awarding the prize to the entrant would likely result in a violation of an applicable law, rule, or policy, including, but not limited to, if contrary to the law where you reside.

27. ACD reserves the right to provide a raincheck or substitute a similar award if the grand prize award can not be provided for reasons outside of ACD’s control. 

28. The odds of winning the grand prize of this contest will depend, in part, on how many contestants enter. However, we cannot predict with specificity how many contestants will participate. The odds of winning the eight prizes via the random drawing prizes also depend on how many contestants enter.

29. Each applicant is responsible for all of your own costs, and the costs of your employees and agents, incurred or that may be incurred in connection with this offer, including, without limitation, any tax liability (including any income tax associated with the value of the award), and any costs associated with entering into and participating in this offer. Winner must agree to complete and provide to ACD relevant tax forms if needed.   However, the cost of delivering the BMW 330e iPerformance will be borne by ACD, which may be done by arranging for delivery by a dealer local to the grand prize winner. 

30. IN NO EVENT SHALL ACD, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS, BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER ARISING UNDER OR AS A RESULT OF ENTRANCE IN OR PARTICIPATION IN THE OFFER, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT ACD IS ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THE FOREGOING LIMITATION OF LIABILITY SHALL APPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
